Mousewood opened in July 2025.
Since before we opened, Mousewood has faced more challenges than we could have ever imagined, and there have been times when we genuinely didn't know how we would keep going.
Through it all, the generosity of the people, businesses and organisations recognised here has made an enormous difference. Whichever way they have suported us, they believed in Mousewood and what we're trying to accomplish, and they have kept us going in more ways than what are listed here.
We are deeply grateful, not only for what they've given, but for reminding us that we aren't doing this alone.

A Big Mousewood Thank You!
We would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Garrett Turner and the team at Central Builder’s Home Hardware for their generous donation of tarps, ropes, children’s shovels and rakes to Mousewood!
These are more than just supplies. They are tools for building, creating, exploring and learning outdoors.
The tarps and ropes will give our children new possibilities for den building, imaginative play and outdoor projects, while the child-sized shovels and rakes will be put to good use in our gardens and throughout our five-acre outdoor learning environment.
At Mousewood, some of the richest learning happens when children have real tools, natural spaces and the freedom to work together, solve problems and bring their ideas to life.
Support from local businesses like Central Builder’s Home Hardware helps us continue creating meaningful, hands-on experiences for children while strengthening connections between Mousewood and our wider Prince George community.

Huge thanks to Dave Payne, owner-operator of Sparkle Kleen Carpet Cleaning for generously donating professional carpet cleaning services to Mousewood.
Our one-million-year-old stairway carpet (give or take a few centuries 😄) from the main floor (Chickadee Nest) to the new childcare program downstairs (Bunny Burrow) has been transformed!
Dave went over the steps and risers several times with his truck-mounted cleaning system. Now I feel confident that the children can walk or crawl on stairs that are actually clean!

Mousewood applied for a grant through the City of Prince George to put on an event. We are lucky be receiving some funding for this and we will tell you more about it when it is time!
Our Volunteers
We greatly appreciate our Volunteers
Ashton
and
Renee
Ashton and Renee have been meeting with our volunteer coordinator Every Saturday from 10am - 2pm for months to work on projects such as putting up fences, building pathways, clearing debris, and other landscaping labour.
They stepped up where no one else did.
We are deeply grateful for their dedication to creating a wonderful place for our children.
Michael
Michael accomplished incredibly hard work in preparing the first forest classroom and the "Valley-Below". The areas that we currently use are completely unrecognisable from the terrible condition they were in when we first arrived.
He continues to pitch in, even making weekly trips to the transfer station with our garbage and recycling so that we can avoid using the garbage can here, as so not to attract bears and scavaging wildlife.
Brian
Brian has done many jobs around Mousewood, from putting up the front fence posts, gates, and much of the fencing, to mowing and edging the grass and paths all summer, from removing fallen trees to putting up blinds.
